Pursuing Your Destiny: A Personal Testimony

Focus Verse: “The Lord said to us at Horeb: ‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and advance ...’” (Deuteronomy 1:6, 7, NIV
God led his people from the bondage of Egypt, and they were at the verge of the Promised Land. He then instructs them to move forward to take the land he promised to give them. Like the Israelites, God has a purpose for you but you need to respond to his call, and actively participate in what he wants to do in your life.
For a long time I wanted to pursue graduate studies, and though I had ideas as what wanted to do I was still undecided. I felt God sent the person I needed to help me decide to join the staff at my school. She was completing the program at an institution that I thought about applying to. My new colleague, not only gave me the information and insight I needed, but also actively nudged me to move forward.

Focus Question: Have you considered the purpose God has for your life?  What steps are you taking to move forward in your destiny in God?
I have since completed that program, and moved on to complete doctoral studies. But I always remember Jennifer, who I now consider to be my “divine contact”.  My life has never been the same since I made the move. I have been personally enriched by the experiences during my studies. I also have since been able to use the knowledge, skills and experiences I gained, to touch the lives of so many people including my student.
I can identify with the uncertainties of the Israelites. But I’m also learning that I need to trust God, take him at his Word, and move forth into the things he calls me to do. Even more, I have learned a powerful lesson that I need to move forward at crucial points in my life as God leads. Listen as Kevin Levar encourages you to fulfill "Your Destiny" in the YouTube video below.

Think of a specific thing that God has placed on your heart that you feel he wants you to move into. You may have been reluctant because of fear, uncertainty or inadequacy. Ask God for the guidance and empowerment you need, and step out confidently knowing God is with you. Your life will never be the same!

Prayer: “Heavenly Father, I thank you for your love, care, and guidance in my life. As you instruct me to move into your purpose for my life, help us to trust you totally, so that I can move forward confidently in you. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.”
