Steadfast Faith in a Gracious God

Focus Verses: Romans 4: 18-21
" Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!”And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb.
Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.  He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises (NLT)

The story of Abraham gives great insight into what it means to trust God.  Even though his wife had passed reproductive age, and Abraham himself was old, God promised them a son. Though he experienced situations that challenged his faith to the core, he believed God.
A lesser man would have given up when the promised son was nowhere in sight. There are lessons you can draw from Abraham's example of faith that never gives up. He was steadfast in his faith. He believed God despite the odds that were stacked against him.'

What is the situation in your life that is challenging you today? I can think of specific situations in my own life that continues to challenge me. But I have decided that instead of giving up, I will take a cue from Abraham and  continue to trust in God.
It is so easy to be distracted by the circumstances around us. Then we lose focus and take our attention off the promises God gave us. In the end, we become frustrated and unable to move forward in what God called us to do.
Listen as Don Moen sings, "God will make a way where there seems to be no way ... he works in ways we cannot see," in the YouTube video below.

Abraham knew that God would make a way, so he did not waver in his faith in the promises of God. He was "fully persuaded that God had the power to do what he promised" (Romans 4:21).Take time to meditate on this verse and keep your focus on the promises God gave you.

Just like Abraham, you can be fully persuaded that God will come through for you. As you meditate on God's promises, you will see what he promises you clearly. Begin to speak his promises of God's Word continually and spend time praising him for his goodness and faithfulness.

Focus Questions: What is a challenging situation in your life today? How will you follow Abraham's example and continue to be steadfast in your faith in God?
Prayer: “Faithful God, thank you for the promises you gave me. Help me to stand unwavering on your Word. I want to see you move miraculously in my life. Thank you Lord that your miracle has already began. Amen.”
