Focus Verse: “Be careful, then, how you live not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15, 16).
We live in a world where it is easy to lose sight of the things that are really valuable in life. Yet we are exhorted in the Scriptures to be careful that we live our lives wisely.
Only God can give us the wisdom to truly value life, and experience life to its fullest. In fact, he wants to guide to us to trust in him with all our hearts, and stop depending on our own understanding.
Since life is our greatest treasure, let us live it with a positive influence in the world. God has a good plan for each of us (Jeremiah 29:11), so let us ask him to direct our steps. When we do, we will experience life that is impacting and worthwhile.
When we understand that our destiny is in God's hands, this sheds light as to what really matters in life. Then, we seek to live our lives in the way that God desires. The result is a more satisfying and joyous life.
Let us begin to balance the amount of time we allow for work, leisure, and the time we spend in fellowships with our Father. Just as we need air to live, it is important to spend time in communion with God, to experience his love, and receive his special strength, guidance, and wisdom to move forward.
Trusting in God is one of the most important ingredients needed to live our lives wisely. Again, the Scriptures remind us that “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrew 11:6 NIV). When we respond in faith to God’s Word, we are responding to his grace that he lavishes us with.
Let us step out in faith in God, and allow him to empower us to meet the demands of life, despite how difficult our circumstances are. We will grow stronger even in the face of adversities, for God empowers go beyond our own abilities. Listen as Hillsong sings, I Surrender, and this is the place to start to experience a life that counts.
